THE PROGRAMMES

There is a maximum of 6 students per group.The tutor programme is one to one between the student and the teacher. The emphasis in class is on student participation. The course includes work on conversation, comprehension, grammar and written skills. Situational dialogues and task based activities are widely used. Students with a more advanced level can study Spanish Culture and Civilization.

ADMISSIONS AND PLACEMENTS

Admission is open to anyone, 17 years of age and older. A language test is given on the first morning - all levels of Spanish are welcome.
Santander Euro-Centre reserves the right to reduce the class time to 10 hours per week if there are less than 3 people in the group.

DATES

All year round. Students may choose to do a course of one week or more and begin any Monday during the year.

CLASS TIME

Monday to Friday 09:30 - 12:45 or 17:00 - 20:15.

ACCOMMODATION

Families are carefully selected by the school to accommodate the students. This is an excellent way for the student to improve their language skills, these families offer students the opportunity to experience first hand the Spanish way of life.

LANGUAGE AND CULTURE PROGRAMME

The student is encouraged to participate in the social and cultural activities which are organized by the school in order to enhance the learning experience and gain insight into Spain and its people. Students are taken on visits around the city, to the cinema, and to typical restaurants once a week. Every weekend there is an excursion to the surrounding area i. e. Picos de Europa, Santillana del Mar, Comillas, Puente Viesgo (interesting caves) etc.

SUMMER PROGRAMME FOR TEENAGERS

An international course for students from 15-18 years of age, with a varied social programme including cultural visits, parties, films, excursions to the beach and much more.
Accommodation is full board with a Spanish family.

TRANSLATION

This is a four week course for translators or those interested in starting a career in translating. Students must be of an advanced level to participate in this programme. It focuses on social issues, literature, banking, cultural issues, import/export, and legal texts. Also included is consecutive interpreting and on sight translation.

FOCUS SPANISH

Combine an intensive language course with any of the following:

3 HOURS SPECIALlZED VOCABULARY: Business, Marketing, Legal, Computers etc.

3 HOURS SPECIAL SUBJECT Literature, Theatre, History of Art, Current Affairs.

COMPREHENSIVE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE PROGRAMME

SPANISH COOKING PROGRAMME

The chef of a local restaurant invites all students of SEC to watch him prepare typical Spanish dishes. The food is very reasonably priced.

LANGUAGE EXCHANGE/INTERCAMBIO

Volunteer teaching English to some of the locals and they in turn help you improve your Spanish. This is a great way for you to meet local people and be introduced to the local nightlife.

INTENSIVE WEEK-END PROGRAMME

10 hours private tuition.
Accommodation in hotel overlooking the sea.

OPTIONS

The school will also organize lessons in golf, pony-riding-surfing for those interested. Further information can be obtained upon request.
